Yes. As I am a clergyperson, my conversations with clients are not only confidential, they are legally privileged. Additionally, as Board Certified Chaplains are considered health care professionals, I am a "covered entity" under HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and comply fully with its provisions. All clients are given a copy of my Notice of Privacy Practices, and it is available on line from my web site. Your privacy is protected in all communications. My computer systems are password protected and data on my network is encrypted. Your client file and financial information are stored on a secure external SafeRAID system and are not actually on my computer at all. Therefore, your privacy would not be compromised if my personal computer is lost or stolen. Backups are stored in my safety deposit box.
