Awards

I'm now back from the annual convention of the National Guild of Hypnotists. As always, I had a great time.
For the second time, I was given the Outstanding Union Service Award. This award is given to the hypnotist who has helped the profession with governmental relations. I'd previously won this award in 2003, and as it is an award one may receive more than once, it was pleasing to get it again.
In my office there are two walls that are covered with the various awards I've collected over the years. My wife calls this the "My Guild Loves Me Corner." However, not all of the awards come from the National Guild of Hypnotists, and I display the plaques as they make a positive statement to my clientele. This plaque will be a new addition.
As the wall is getting awfully cluttered, I will probably take down the 2003 award and hang the new plaque in the same spot. I'm pleased.
Here is a photo of the new award propped up against a lamp. The lamp itself is another award: the Tebbets Award, given to a hypnotist who has done something to popularize hypnotism with the general public. I won that award in 1996.

The convention itself was a great success. Surprisingly, we had a larger attendance this year than last. While the economy is awful, it apparently isn't hitting the hypnotist community too hard. Lindsay and I had a couple of wonderful seafood dinners (the convention is in the Boston area) and it is always good to see friends from around the world.
