PROFESSIONAL SPECIALIZATION

I am a Level III Reiki Master Teacher in traditional Usui Reiki, Karuna Reiki®, and Holy Fire® III Reiki in private practice at Rev. C. Scot Giles, D.Min., LLC in Wheaton, Illinois. I offer both individual and group sessions both in person and online, as well as training and supervision at all levels of Reiki practice. In addition I am a Certified HypnoCoach with the National Guild of Hypnotists.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Reiki Master in Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki system. Holy Fire® Levels 1, 2, Advanced Reiki Training, and Reiki Master Certification at the International Center for Reiki Training in Southfield, Michigan, with ICRT Licensed Teacher and Reiki Master William Lee Rand in 2019. Certified Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher by William Lee Rand and ICRT in 2020.

Level III Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Tradition. Reiki Training, Levels I-III, and Master Teacher Certification at the Leidecker Institute in Elgin, Illinois. Certified in 2000. The Leidecker Institute was a state-approved post-secondary school.

Animal Reiki Practitioner, Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) in 2020.

Certified HypnoCoach by the National Guild of Hypnotists in 2007. This certification is the original coaching credential created by Dr. Lisa Halpin and now taught internationally. It emphasizes the use of hypnosis and autosuggestion as tools to help clients excel.

Board Certified Consulting Hypnotist by the National Guild of Hypnotists, 2006. As the largest hypnosis organization in the world, the National Guild of Hypnotists has provided training, performance testing, certification and continuing education for the professional practice of hypnotism since 1951. Board Certification requires passing a comprehensive verbal and written peer examination after a minimum of three years with a Basic Certification.

Basic Certification for Consulting Hypnotism by the National Guild of Hypnotists, 1995. Trained at the Mindsight Institute in Michigan City, Indiana. The Mindsight Institute was a state-approved post-secondary school.

Full and Final Ministerial Fellowship, the Unitarian Universalist Association, 1980. Ordained 1978.

Minister Emerita, The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, elected 2018 upon retirement from the parish ministry and after serving this congregation as its Senior Minister for forty years.

Senior Parish Minister, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, 110 South Second Street, Geneva, Illinois, 60134, from 1978 to 2018. Under the leadership of Dr. Bates, a Reiki ministry began at this congregation in 2001. Since then, Dr. Bates has provided hundreds of hours of Reiki, including attunements, classes, supervision and shares. Two of her students are now Master Teachers and continue the active Reiki ministry.

RECOGNITIONS

President, Clergy Special Interest Group of the National Guild of Hypnotists, 2003-2007.

Order of James Braid, inducted 2007, by order of the President of the National Guild of Hypnotists. The Order of Braid is an international honor society for hypnotism named after the 19th century Scottish surgeon who first devised the word “hypnotism.” Persons are inducted into the Order of Braid in recognition of a lifetime of service to professional hypnotism.
